Health & hygiene
Being healthy makes you feel good and people will notice.
Take pride in yourself and your home...
- Eat well - fruit, vegetables, dairy, meat and grains. Eat sugar and fats in SMALL amounts.
- Exercise - cycle to school, walk to the shops, skateboard to your mates.
- Drink water – 8 glasses per day is recommended (not all at once!).
- Visit your doctor often, tell them if you’re feeling worried or no good.
- Brush and floss your teeth every day. Visit your community dental clinic for a clean every 6 months.
- Shower every day, wear deodorant and wash your hair every second day.
- Wash your clothes regularly and dry them outside in fresh air.
- Wash your bed sheets weekly.
- Wash your hands before you cook, after you’ve cleaned, and after going to the toilet.
- Clean your house every week, it's more fun if you turn on some music.
Sex - know the law! In Victoria the law says...
- No one can force you to have sex
- If you are under 16 it is illegal to have sex with someone who is more than 2 years older than you.
- It is illegal to have sex with someone who is under 10 years old.
- You cannot have sex with someone in your family
- Safe sex = a condom AND the pill. If you have had unprotected sex, get emergency contraception from your doctor as soon as possible.
